Innotunity or Opporvation?

Regardless of your industry or position in the supply chain, innovation breeds opportunity, which breeds more innovation. It is exactly at this intersection that real value is created. I'll give you an example: the recent beginning of innovative and thin mobile phone designs has spawned a series

of new models, driving sales to record levels. The phones from just a year or so ago seem like cars from the 80's: outdated and unwanted. Replacement sales have soared past new subscriber sales, further validating the strength of the industry.

What has this done to the supply chain? First of all, it has challenged it to meet the requirements these new designs are demanding, causing innovation at nearly all levels. Secondly, those at the leading edge of innovation are faced with enormous opportunities as key suppliers of technology into what is right now unthrottled demand.

Once again adhesives and their applications (in this case in the mobile phone industry), combined with our innovative and experienced process engineering capabilities, have afforded AccuPlace the desirable position of having a key technology used in the creation of a hot commodity: AccuPlace is the leading source for equipment to assemble Anti-Splinter Films ASF™ onto glass lenses.

So I ask all you OEMs and suppliers out there to keep innovating; we and others like us are ready to turn your challenges into opportunities for all who have their eyes on the proverbial ball.

Using Flex Circuits? What You Should Know
By Rich Orstad
Flex Circuits provide various advantages for electronic product manufacturers because of the performance, space, weight, and flexibility characteristics they offer. Once a flexible circuit is designed and manufactured for a specific application, the ability to assemble or attach this circuit to the desired component in a cost efficient manner is critical.  Assembling them into the electronic product causes some challenges to the manufacturers. To benefit completely from the advantages flex circuits offer, assembly has to be done not only accurately and fast, but often also in a three dimensional shape. Assembly time, circuit or component scrap factors, and production throughput are the primary issues affecting the best solution for assembly.  The combination of utilizing a Die Cut Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) with Precision Placement Technology to assemble flexible circuits creates tremendous benefits in manufacturing costs, quality, and throughput. Lean and Clean: When Your Production Requires Clean Room
Whether you manufacture electronics, semiconductors, or life science products, contamination of your product during manufacturing is a concern. Placing film adhesives - in the form of labels, filters, vents, or other types of pressure sensitive adhesives – can be critical as both machine movement and adhesive can cause contamination. Most of the common peel & place technologies are not suitable for any clean room environments. AccuPlace has standardized solutions with clean room options that reduce the chances of contaminating the target part with particulates. This clean room configuration provides air valve exhaust ports that are connected together for porting to an outside vacuum system. The pneumatic cylinders have vacuum collars around the shafts and the bearings are constructed from stainless steel. The following models are available as clean room versions:
   Class 1000  Class 10
For Component Size up to 1.5” x 1.5” 1515, RM1515 1515, RM1515
For Component Size up to 2.0” x 6.5” RM2065
RM2065
For Component Size up to 3.0” x 6.5” 3065, RM3065 3065
For Component Size up to 4.0” x 6.5” 4065

Size Does Matter: Placing Larger Components With Precision
Size does matter. So does accuracy. AccuPlace introduces its new model 4090, an adhesive component placement system for components up to 4.0”(Width) x 9.0”(Length) / 101.6 mm x 228.6 mm. The new model 4090 incorporates our unique patented peeling technology ensuring high placement accuracy and repeatability, even with components that are difficult to peel. Need Quick Changeover With No Tooling? Check This Out
If you have high product variety with small production lots, you know about the challenge of changing your manufacturing line from one product to another. Materials have to be changed, project specific tooling has to be mounted, and adjustments need to be made. Such changeovers can easily eat up to 60 minutes or more, depending on the complexity of the machine. For frequent changeovers in assembling pressure sensitive adhesives, AccuPlace now offers an additional feature that makes your product changeover easy: the Quick Disconnect Tool for fast and easy chuck changes. Simply disconnect the vacuum, push the chuck up against the actuator, slide it out – and slide the new Quick Disconnect Tool in. The Quick Disconnect Tool does not require any tooling, and allows you to change the chuck in less than a minute. This is a precious timesaving device for your manufacturing process without sacrificing quality. Contact sales@accuplace.com for more information.
